Tournament Rules
1. The Tournament shall be known as Celestial Trophy Cricket Tournament.2. The Trophy will be ever rolling Trophy.
3. The Tournament is conducted on Knock Out basis.
4. Matches other than Final will be of 30 overs a side. Final will be of 45 overs a side.
5. Each team should complete their quota of 30 overs in a maximum of 2hrs with a break and 45 overs in a maximum of 3hrs with two breaks.
6. If team bowling first fails to complete the full quota of overs in the stipulated time they, will have to complete the full quota of overs but while batting they will get only the number of overs bowled in time.
7. In normal circumstances two 30 over matches will be played on a day. Ist match will start from 8 am and II nd from 12.45 pm. Final will start from 9 am and there will be a lunch break of 40mts.
8. If a team fails to report even after 30mts of the scheduled time the opponents will be given walk over.
9. Players should use only white clothing and shoes.
10. The Umpires will be the sole authority to judge the loss of time during playing hours due to rain, bad light, injury or any other reasons.
11. If there is any loss of time during playing hours the overs shall be re-arranged proportionately, by the umpires in consultation with the tournament committee.
12. If the re arrangement is done while a side batting second, target shall be reset by multiplying the overall run rate of the team batting first by the total number of overs available to them.
13. a) If there is any loss of time only due to late reporting of one team they will lose proportionate number of overs as per the table shown below during their innings and the team which has reported in time will have their normal quota of overs.

1- 10 minutes 1 Over
11-15 minutes 2 Overs
16-20 minutes 3 Overs
21-25 minutes 4 Overs
26-30 Minutes 5 Overs
By the term ‘reporting’ it is intended that the captain should handover the list of players , be ready for the toss and should be ready with the team to take the field as and when the umpires want them to.
b) Clause 6 will be applicable even in the cases where 13(a) is effected.
14. In case a match is abandoned due to rain , bad light , or any other reasons the winner will be a) the side with higher overall run rate provided the team batting second has batted at least 8 or 1/3 rd of the total number of overs decided at the start of the match whichever is higher.
a) While calculating 1/3rd of total overs, fractions will be rounded of to the next higher number.
b) If the team batting 2nd has not completed 8 or 1/3 rd of the total overs the result will be decided by the “Bowl Out”method if not decided other wise by the tournament committee.
15.a) Power play will be applicable in the following pattern
i) 30 over match-Total 12 overs with three sessions of 6,3and 3 overs
ii) 45 overs Match-total 18 overs with three sessions of 9, 5 and 4 overs
iii)Only two Fielders Shall be allowed to field outside the 30yard circle during the 1st block of Power play and three fielders shall be allowed outside the 30 yard circle during the 2nd and 3rd blocks of Power play.
iv)The batting team has the right to choose either the 2nd or 3rd block of power play.
b) Only a maximum of five fielders will be allowed to field outside the 30 yard circle at any other stage of the match.
c)In matches where the no. of overs are re arranged, while calculating the minimum number of overs for which the above clause is applicable, fractions will be rounded off to the next higher number.
16) In case of infringement of the clause 15 (a (iii)) & 15(b)either of the umpires shall call and signal No ball.
17) If the ball passes or would have passed above the shoulder level of the batsman standing upright either of the umpires shall call and signal No ball.
18) Free hit will be awarded to the batsman in the delivery following a foot fault no ball
19) In an innings a bowler can bowl a maximum of 1/5th of the total number of overs.
a) In case the overs are re arranged in an innings to a number not divisible by 5 a bowler can bowl a maximum of 1/5th of the next higher number divisible by 5.
20) a) In case of a tie in a match, the winner will be decided by the ‘super over’ method if not decided otherwise by the Tournament committee.
In a” super over” a batting side can appoint three batsmen to bat an over bowled by the other side. The chance of a batting team shall ceases if two of them get out even if the over is not completed.
If the situation is not conducive for a super over, Bowl out method shall be employed. If bowl out is also not possible winner will be decided by the spin of coin.
21) In case a match is stopped in between an over the run rate will be the runs scored per ball.
22) Balls will be provided by the organizers at a ‘reasonable ‘cost.
23) Under normal circumstances the match will be played on matting wicket at the venue mentioned above. But if situation warrants the tournament committee reserves the right to shift the venue to a different wicket, either turf or matting wicket.
24) Qualified state/district panel Umpires will be posted in consultation with the Trivandrum District Cricket Association.
25) Disputes will be settled by the tournament committee in consultation with the umpires.
26) Protests, if any should be lodged within one hour after the completion of the match with a fee of Rs 500/-, refundable only if the protest is found to be valid.
27) The tournament committee reserves the right to frame/change/modify any of the rules at any stage of the tournament if found necessary.
28) In addition to these, the normal one day rules will be followed as specified by the BCCI. MCC 2000 code will also be applicable.
